An American Werewolf in Paris (1997)

July 3rd, 2009

The daughter of the werewolf from AWIL is alive and living in Paris where her mother (from the first film) and stepfather are trying to overcome her lycanthropic disease. A trio of American tourists on a thrill seeking trip around Europe manage to stop her from plunging to her death from the top of the Eiffel tower and are embroiled in a horrific but often hilarious plot involving a secret society of werewolves based in the city and a drug which allows werewolves to change at any time… This time there’s no need for a full moon…

About the Author
As a teenager growing up in Arlington Texas, Aaron Sims began his career working for famed commercial illustrator Don Ivan Punchatz. After moving to Los Angeles in 1985, Aaron began designing, sculpting, and painting creatures for the movie makeup effects. In 1988, Sims joined Rick Baker’s Academy Award® winning Cinovation Studios Inc. He further developed his skills as a team member on “Gremlins 2″ (Head Painter), “Baby’s Day Out” (Head Painter/Cosmetic Supervisor), “Batman Forever” (Painter/Sculptor), and “Batman and Robin” (Painter/Sculptor). Sims went on to lead various projects at Cinovation, designing and sculpting the Grandma Klump prosthetic makeup on “The Nutty Professor”, the Worm Guys and other aliens in “Men in Black”, the Willie character prosthetic make-up in “Life”, and the new Grandma Klump prosthetic make-up in “The Nutty Professor 2″. Sims became Project Supervisor on “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” Sims sculpted and painted the Baby Grinch character, oversaw its construction, and puppeteered the character on set. He designed many of the ‘Who’ Character prosthetics as well. Always looking for ways to expand his artistic ability, in the late 90’s Sims began exploring the medium of computer animation. Sims joined Stan Winston Studio in 2000 and began building a digital design shop within the Academy Award winning effects house. In 2001, he joined SW Digital, the design division at Stan Winston Studio. SW Digital has since designed characters for “Terminator 3″, and completed and all digital promotional trailer TRAKK for Stan Winston Creatures, the action figure and comics division of Stan Winston Studio.

Clinical Functional MRI: Presurgical Functional Neuroimaging (Medical Radiology / Diagnostic Imaging)

July 3rd, 2009

Springer | ISBN: 3540244697 | Edition - 2007-04-04 | PDF | 272 pages | 11.1 MB

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) permits noninvasive imaging of the “human brain at work” under physiological conditions. This is the first textbook on clinical fMRI. It is devoted to preoperative fMRI in patients with brain tumors and epilepsies, which are the most well-established clinical applications. By localizing and lateralizing specific brain functions, as well as epileptogenic zones, fMRI facilitates the selection of a safe treatment and the planning and performance of function-preserving neurosurgery. State of the art fMRI procedures are presented, with detailed consideration of the physiological and methodological background, imaging and data processing, normal and pathological findings, diagnostic possibilities and limitations, and other related techniques. All chapters are written by recognized experts in their fields, and the book is designed to be of value to beginners, trained clinicians and experts alike.

Oxford Textbook of Medicine 4th Ed. 3-Volume Set

July 3rd, 2009

Page: 4500 | Date: 2005 | ISBN: 0198569785 | Rared pdb (iSilo) file | 56 MB

The Oxford Textbook of Medicine provides all that any doctor needs to know to practise top-level internal medicine. It gives comprehensive coverage of the epidemiology, aetiology, and mechanism of disease, as well as clear, unambiguous coverage of the diagnosis, practical management and prevention of the entire spectrum of medical disorders. There are major introductory sections on the scientific basis of disease; and in the system-based clinical sections genetic predisposition, pathophysiology, pathogenesis, molecular mechanisms, and cell biology are covered in depth for all significant medical syndromes. Clinical descriptions of diseases are clearly and memorably written, based on the experience and insight of the authors ? many of whom are among the world?s most distinguished medical scientists. Chapters are not only ?evidence based? but also based on clinical experience and a thorough survey of all the relevant literature. Throughout, the approach of OTM is humane and ethical and, at the same time, factual, reliable, honest (especially where knowledge is limited) and rigorously scientific. This is not just a textbook of ?First World? medicine. It provides practical guidance for doctors working in a variety of medical settings, stressing the value of a logical clinical approach rather than immediate resort to expensive imaging and laboratory tests. More of the contributing authors than ever before are from outside Europe, including strong representation of North American medicine. The new editorial team has ensured that the OTM continues to reflect rapid changes in medical practice; there are new sections on intensive care, alcohol and drug abuse, clinical pharmacology and therapeutics, world health, clinical trials and evidence-based medicine, adolescent medicine, sports medicine, and emergency medicine; more than half the contributors are new for this edition; and most of the text has been heavily revised. The striking new page and cover design reflect the significant changes made in this new edition. The Textbook is illustrated by over 2000 two-colour diagrams and many colour Plates. The index is the most detailed and user-friendly of any major medical textbook: in an emergency, the reader can access information quickly - whether on the ward, in office or at home. Like its predecessors, OTM4 will be the trusted and ultimate reference in libraries, hospitals, doctors? consulting rooms, solicitors? offices, press offices, and primary care practices worldwide.
